Native American Laguna Carved Hopi Snow Maiden Rasping Katsina Sculpture by Jacob Warner

Snow Maiden (Qotsa Mana or Nuvak'chin Mana) is most often seen accompanying the Hemis Katsina during the Home Dance (Niman) Ceremony. She represents the snow and is one of the rasping Katsinam. Her presence is a prayer for the coming cold weather, for snow to fall over the winter so that in the springtime there will be moisture in the land for planting. This wonderful wall hanging is made from the root of the cottonwood tree and still has the bark on it. A very creative way to use this traditional wood.
