Native American Diegueno Carved Mission Navajo Yei Dancers by Nancy Root
This wonderful older piece (30 years) was carved by Nancy Root, a Diegueno (California Mission Indian). She carved these little figures and then placed them in the line that they dance. It is a beautiful piece and Nancy is a wonderful older woman (73 years old). She did her carvings until just a few years ago when her eyes and her hands no longer allowed her to work. Nancy has had a wonderful career, from Hollywood where she was in movies with John Wayne, Clark Gable and Tony Curtis to numerous awards from her artwork including a First Place at the Heard Museum Indian Market. A real collector's piece.
