Native American Jemez Handbuilt Clown Clay Figure by Joe Cajero Jr.
This fabulous clay sculpture by Jemez artist Joe Cajero is titled Butterfly Blessings. Joe supplied the following copy to accompany this piece.
This scene captures a Koshari dancing in the early morning creating the medicine for the cermony. There would be others singing for this Koshari. The singers would ask the spirits to bring the Blessings that create the medicine water. The Blessings would be brought by birds, or as in this scene, they are brought by Sacred Butterflies sent from the realm of Spirit. Each has a different altar design on their wings. The Koshari feels the bliss of the divine spirit of these butterflies as they hand on his hands. Click on numbered boxes below image for additional views.
