This painted deer hide is mounted on bent wood. It is a fight scene between the Pawnee and the Sioux.The Sioux Indians were known to be some of the fiercest fighters and in this scene they stake themselves to the ground and fight to the death against their enemies. These men could only be released from their hold to the earth by one of their Sioux brothers.
