The Awatovi performs the same function as do the Nataska. His role is almost exactly that of Wiharu, the White Ogre. He stands beside the Soyok Wuhti and puts food in his basket that she gathers from the villagers. He is believed to have come from the destroyed town of Awatovi and is seldom personated.
