Native American Hopi Carved Roadrunner Katsina Doll by Larson Chapella
Roadrunner (Hospoa) appears during the nighttime Kiva Dances or during the Mixed Katsina Dances in the spring. He is one of many bird Katsinam of the Hopi. He is a side dancer and an inhabitant of the arid southwest desert. Larson Chapella is a great carver and the details on this Roadrunner, including the roadrunner and the gecko on the base, are prime examples of his work.
