Native American Made Clown Mask

Handbuilt Clown Mask by Jemez potter Fannie Loretto. This wonderful mask is a classic piece with the laughing Clown (Koshare). Fannie creates these masks by shaping the clay she digs by hand into a bowl. She then begins on cutting and building the face out of that basic shape. She tells us that the individual expressions on the masks come directly from the clay. These masks are beautiful and peaceful pieces created by this wonderful artist. This Clown mask is 8.75 in. x 10 in. just for the mask. The finished size with horsehair pony tails, corn husk tassels and satin ribbons is 12 in. x 22 in.
