Antique Native American Hopi Carved Warrior Katsina Doll by J. Namingha

This Warrior (Ewiro) katsina was carved in the 1970s by Hopi carver J. Namingha. This particular katsina is an old Third Mesa version. This katsina appears at the dance and whips the clowns, he also functions as a policeman for the cleaning of the springs. He has wonderful detail adornments including the feather headdress, hide wrap, the shield tied around him and hanging at his right side, yarn ties at his wrist and knees, and yucca tied around his head as well as bundled together and carried as whips.
