Antique Native American Hopi Carved Saviki Chief Katsina Doll by Henry Shelton
This wonderful old Saviki (no English translation) was carved by Henry Shelton in the 1970s. It is a classic representation of this Snake Clan Chief Katsina from that period. This particular mask was stolen from the kiva and sold on the Black Market. This is a prime example of a Katsina that no longer dances because the mask is gone. A pristine katsina from one of the most famous carvers of the time. Click on numbered boxes below image for additional views.
