Native American Hopi Carved Warrior Mouse Hero Katsina Doll by Ted Pavatea
Though not a Katsina, the Mouse Warrior is a hero to the Hopi of Second Mesa for having ridded the people of a troublesome chickenhawk they had been unable to eliminate from the Mesa. The Mouse Warrior tricked the chickenhawk into impaling itself on a stake and thus became a hero to the people. This wonderful little mouse has the stake in his hand and the chickenhawk impaled on the tip. A fabulous carving by Ted. Click on numbered boxes below image for additional views.
