This Turtle and Long Hair Katsina is a relatively new Katsina. He was brought to life by Orlan's uncle when he saw a Turtle Dance at the San Juan Pueblo in New Mexico. This Turtle Katsina and the music and dance captured his imagination. He went home and studied the dance and the music over and over again. Years passed before he developed this Katsina which appears at the end of the summer dances and takes much of its coloring from the Hemis. Thanks Orlan, for sharing this story with us.
