This wonderful pot was handbuilt and handetched by Mata Ortiz resident Diana Loya. This pot shows skeletons posing in their best clothing in a churchyard. They are celebrating Day of the Dead (Día de Muertos) is a Mexican holiday celebrated throughout Mexico, in the Central and South regions, and is acknowledged around the world in other cultures. The holiday focuses on family and friends gathering to pray for and remember those who have died, and help support their spiritual journey. Pottery ring included.
