Mata Ortiz Handbuilt and Handetched Day of the Dead Pot by Angel Guerrero Trillo
This wonderful pot was handbuilt and handetched by Mata Ortiz resident Angel Guerrero Trillo. This pot shows skeletons playing instruments, singing and dancing in a churchyard. They are celebrating Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos), a Mexican holiday celebrated throughout Mexico, in the Central and Southern regions, and acknowledged around the world in other cultures. The holiday focuses on family and friends gathering to pray for and remember those who have died, and help support their spiritual journey.
