Mata Ortiz Handbuilt and Handpainted Seed Pot

Native Puebloan Handbuilt and Handpainted Seed Pot by Avelina Corona

This seed pot was handbuilt, carved and handpainted by Mata Ortiz resident Avelina Corona. In the fall the women would take the seeds for next spring and place them in these pots. This storage technique would keep the rodents from ruining next year's seed crop. This seed pot has the sweetest bloom on the very tip of the pot.
