Zuni Carved Bobcat Fetish by Maxx Laate

Wonderful bobcat carved from travertine with turquoise eyes perched on a rock ledge. Below him are paw prints and the face of another bobcat in the side of the rock. Zuni artist Maxx Laate did a great job on this piece. Maxx was quite young when he did this, and it was in a trader's collection for a very long time. This bobcat has a classic resting pose. A really great piece. The bobcat is a prey god and represents the southern direction in the hunting directional set. Prey gods of the hunt are placed in a buckskin bag and carried by the hunter over his heart.
