Native American Acoma Handbuilt and Handpainted Ball Seed Pot
Description
Native American Acoma Handbuilt and Handpainted Ball Seed Pot by Prudy Correa
Wonderful handbuilt and handpainted large ball seed pot. Prudy does a wonderful job, from digging the clay and handbuilding the piece through the painting and finally polishing the vessel with a stone. Prudy creates very traditional Acoma pottery. In the fall, women would take the seeds for next spring and place them in these pots and stack them. These pots would be placed in the corner of their home, stacked so the bottom of one pot would seal the top of the other. This storage technique would save space and keep the rodents from ruining next year's seed crop.
