Old Style Hopi Carved Navajo Fancy Traditional Dancer Katsina Doll
Description
Old Style Hopi Carved Navajo Fancy Traditional Dancer Katsina Doll by Fermin Torivio
Navajo (Tasap) is a Hopi Katsina who represents the grandfather of the Navajo Kachinas. He does not speak but pantomimes whatever he wants. His dance step and all of his movement are exaggerated and very lively. He might stop in the middle of his dance and indicate that he needs food, lots of it. His entire performance is to make the audience laugh. This is the "Fancy Tasap."
