Native American Hopi Carved Warrior Mouse Hero Katsina Doll
Description
Native American Hopi Carved Warrior Mouse Hero Katsina Doll by Ted Pavatea
Though not a Katsina, the Warrior Mouse (Tusun Humitsi) is a hero to the Hopi of Second Mesa for having rid the people of a troublesome chickenhawk they had been unable to eliminate from the Mesa. The Mouse Warrior tricked the chickenhawk into impaling itself on a stake and thus became a hero to the people. This wonderful little mouse has a flower in one hand and in the other he has speared a bee who was trying to get to the flower. He is practicing for his larger role of spearing the chickenhawk. A fabulous carving by Ted.
