Description

Native American Hopi Carved Paralyzed Tuhavi and Blind Mudhead Katsina Doll by Thomas Collateta (dec. 2018)

According to legend, one Katsina, in this case the Tuhavi, was paralyzed. In order to get around, Tuhavi was carried by a friend, the Mudhead (Koyemsi), who was blind. Together they were able to hunt, travel, and accomplish many tasks. After their very long journey, they meet all the Katsinam at the Home-Going (Niman) ceremony and to show appreciation for them, both are healed. This Katsina pair is the true definition of teamwork.
