Native American Cherokee Made Turtle Earrings
Description
Native American Cherokee Made Turtle Earrings by Serena Mankiller
These painted deerskin earrings were created by Cherokee artist Serena Mankiller. The earrings feature a turtle with the four directions on his back. Turtle represents longevity, tenacity, self-reliance; he assures rainfall; he is the oldest symbol of Mother Earth and carries our prayers to her. Some Native people believe we are living on the back of a turtle. This symbol honors our prayers to the sacred four directions, four mountains or four grandparents. We are excited to have this new artist in the shop.
