Native American Navajo Made Cross Pendant

Native American Navajo Made Cross Pendant by Freida Thompson

This smaller Sterling cross pendant comes from the Spaniards. In the 1600s the Conquistadors wore these pendants for protection. They also had them on their horses to protect the horse and rider. The Natives adopted this piece because it reminded them of the North Star. It was not until later, that they adopted it as a Christian symbol as well. This cross was created by Navajo silversmith Freida Thompson. The cross is 1.5 inches long complete and 1 inch wide.
