Native American Hopi Carved Parrot Katsina Sculpture
Description
Native American Hopi Carved Parrot Katsina Sculpture by Larin Nasafotie
The Parrot Katsina (Kyash or Kyaro), is one of several Katsinam credited with bringing abundant summer growth to the corn crops on the Mesas. The feathers of the parrot were prized by prehistoric Indian groups. Feathers and even live parrots were traded from Central America as far north as the Four Corners area. We do not get much work from Larin and we are grateful to have this beautiful piece.
