Native American Acoma Handbuilt and Handpainted Large Pot
Native American Acoma Handbuilt and Handpainted Large Pot by Mary Antonio
Wonderful handbuilt and handpainted very large pot by Acoma potter Mary Antonio Garcia. This is a beautiful piece of pottery and wonderfully finished. This shape of pot would be used for cooking stews. Mary digs her own clay, creates her pigments from sandstone and boiled wild spinach. The colors on her pots represent the following:
White--Mother Earth Orange--Sun Black--Clouds Red--Earth
Each straight line on a piece of Acoma pottery is a prayer for rain.
