Native American Santo Domingo Made Turquoise Necklace with Jaclas--Vintage
Description
1974-1985 Native American Santo Domingo Made Turquoise Necklace with Jaclas
This Santo Domingo made necklace was created by an unknown silversmith with handcut and polished natural turquoise nuggets intersperced with spiny oyster and each piece is separated with clamshell heishe. The bottom of the necklace sports two jaclas (ear strings). These are traditional additions to this necklace. The handcut and ground turquoise is accented by the spiny shell on the ends of the loops, which are called corn. The necklace is finished with bench beads and hook and eye. This is a beautiful traditionally created piece.
