This wonderful pot was handbuilt and handetched by Mata Ortiz resident Hilario Quezada Jr. This pot shows female and male skeletons all dressed up in their finest in a church graveyard. They are celebrating Day of the Dead (Día de Muertos), a holiday celebrated throughout Mexico, in the Central and South regions, and acknowledged around the world in other cultures. The holiday focuses on family and friends gathering to pray for and remember those who have died, and help support their spiritual journey. Pottery ring included.
