Mata Ortiz Handbuilt Pot by Nono Ortiz

This older (1993) beautiful handbuilt pot was created by Nono Ortiz. This "melon" style is created when the potter pushes her fingers into the clay to make the furrows. The shiny black is achieved by using a mixture of kerosene and graphite and rubbing it into the pot then polishing it with a stone until it glows. Pottery ring included.
