This gourd seed pot has a turtle painted on the top with jet eyes. This style pot would be placed in the corner of a home, stacked so the bottom of one pot would seal the top of the other. This storage technique would save space and keep rodents and mold from ruining next year's seed crop. The turtle represents longevity, and it is believed by some Native Americans that we are living on the back of a turtle.
