This wonderful pot was handbuilt and handetched by Mata Ortiz resident Emiliano RodriguezLoya. This pot shows skeletons in their finest dress dancing and playing instruments in a graveyard. They are celebrating Day of the Dead (Día de Muertos) is a Mexican holiday celebrated throughout Mexico, in the Central and South regions, and is acknowledged around the world in other cultures. The holiday focuses on family and friends gathering to pray for and remember those who have died, and help support their spiritual journey. This is a little unusual for the pot is mostly black, and the night sky holds owls, bats and a full "Rabbit" moon. Pottery stand included.
