Mimbres Quail and Flowers Gourd Pot by Robert Rivera

This large gourd is beautifully painted with the flowers all around the body. The top of the gourd is cut out around each quail body. An amazing piece. Each quail has a fez, his little bear and is finished with one jet eye. These are beautifully painted and carved out little birds that complely encircle the top of the gourd. The quail represents holiness and sacred ceremony. The last photo is Toby holding this piece to show scale.
