Native American Acoma Handbuilt and Handpainted Traditional Seed Pot
Description
Native American Acoma Handbuilt and Handpainted Traditional Seed Pot by Kathy Victorino
Wonderful handbuilt and handpainted traditional seed pot with classic pattern of lightning and rain was created by Acoma master potter Kathy Victorino. This is a seed pot. In the fall the women would take the seeds for next Spring and place them in these pots and then stack them. These pots would be placed in the corner of their home, stacked so the bottom of one pot would seal the top of the other. This storage technique would save space and keep the rodents from ruining next years' seed crop. Kathy does pristine work with her building as well as her painting. This pot has an optical illusiion for it looks as if each section is straight and the next one below it is at a sharp angle and is lower. It is just al illusion. The pot is perfectly smooth.
4.25 in. tall x 5.5 in. dia.
