Native American Flutes
Native American flutes are instruments rich in history. They are used for ceremony, entertainment, courtship, and love. According to Navajo tradition, the sound of the flute was once considered irresistible. While early flutes were made from materials like sunflower stalks, the art has evolved into a refined artistic medium. All of the native flutes we offer are handcrafted by talented Navajo artist, Jonah Thompson. He uses pine and aromatic cedar to create instruments that produce beautiful native flute music, making each one a unique piece of functional art.
Our collection includes a variety of keys and styles for any player. The standard pine flute comes in A Minor with several different stains and animal totems. For a deeper range, we offer cedar flutes in keys like F Sharp, G Minor, and E Minor. Jonah also creates double-chamber drone flutes, which add a constant tone alongside the melody for a rich, complex sound. While pine has a clear tone, cedar flutes are often preferred for their deep, resonant voice. These exceptional Native American flutes are just one example of the handcrafted ceremonial artifacts we carry, alongside traditional drums.
