Native American Hopi Carved Piki Craver Kachina Doll (Katsina Doll)

Description

Native American Hopi Carved Piki Craver Katsina Doll by John Fredericks

Piki Craver (Wah-uh-uh Piki Sona) He originates from the village of Shungopavi and his main responsibility is to pester the Ogres who are negotiating to take either the children or the food that is offered by their families. The Piki Craver steals the piki and eats it quickly so the Ogres have to accept that the Piki Craver has eaten their food instead of taking the children away. This is a beautiful older piece that was acquired from a private collector. John is no longer carving.
