Native American Hopi Handbuilt and Handpainted Bowl

Description

Native American Hopi Handbuilt and Handpainted Bowl by Delaine Tootsie

This is a beautiful small bowl created by Delaine Tootsie, a Hopi potter who has been making pots since she was a little girl. Her hand-dug clay is multicolored and the designs go back hundreds of years in her family history. The inside of the bowl has the sipapu in the center. The sipapu is the opening at the base of the Grand Canyon where the Hopi people emerged from the last world to this, the 4th World. The outside of the bowl is painted with Hopi symbols including water, migration, lightning, dragonflies, and more. The rim of the pot has three lines. The continuous ones are for unity and the one with the break in it is to release negativity. We are extremely happy to share Delaine's work with our customers.
