Native American Jemez Handbuilt and Handpainted Owl Effigy
Native American Jemez Handbuilt and Handpainted Owl Effigy by Emily Fragua Tsosie
Effigy pots are recreations of ancient vessels that have been found in many puebloan areas. It is believed that these pieces were created to depict the birds and animal life that were so important to the people. This owl is stately in his posture and his stare. This is an older piece from a private collection. It has a little wear, but nothing significant.
