Native American Jemez Handbuilt Traditional Pot with Prayer Feathers
Description
Native American Jemez Handbuilt Traditional Pot with Prayer Feathers by Marcella Yepa
This wonderful pot has prayer feathers encircling the pot at the shoulder. The shape of this pot indicates it would be used as a smoke or smudge pot. Dried herbs would be lit and placed inside where they would smoulder. This is one of the first incense burners. Prayer feathers are commonly given as a gift to heal the heart. Just as ancient Americans used the feathers to send prayers to the heavens and draw healing power from the sky, and so with all sincerity we hope such healing goes with you with every footstep. This classic piece was created by Marcella Yepa from Jemez Pueblo, NM.
