Native American Hopi Made Kokopelli Pendant
Description
Native American Hopi Made Kokopelli Pendant by Raynard Lalo
This sterling silver kokopelli pendant was made by Hopi silversmith Raynard Lalo using the overlay technique. Two layers of silver, cut and fused by hand. The top layer is etched and oxidized so the figure reads sharp and dark against the polished silver beneath.
Kokopelli is one of the most recognized figures in Pueblo tradition. He carries a hump on his back and plays a flute. When he plays, the clouds gather and the rain follows. He is associated with fertility, harvest, and the arrival of spring. Different Pueblo communities carry their own stories about him, but the flute and the rain are constants across all of them.
