Native American Hopi Carved Hano Mana Katsina Doll--miniature

Description

Native American Hopi Carved Hano Mana Katsina Doll by J. W. Namoki

The Hano Mana, just like the Grandmother (Hahay-i wu-uti), is a favorite for the first or second gift to the girls by the men of their villages. Hano Mana appears in the Bean Dance on Second Mesa and in the Water Serpent Ceremony on First Mesa. This Hano or Tewa Maiden is carrying a basket filled with corn meal. This is a very simple and yet detailed carving.
