The Parrot Katsina (Kyash or Kyaro) is one of several bird Katsinam credited with bringing abundant summer growth to the corn crops on the Mesas. The feathers of the parrot were prized by Paleo-Indian groups. Feathers and even live parrots were traded from Central America as far north as the Four Corners area. This is a fabulous piece with amazing details and crisp painting by a new carver for us. I can hardly wait to see how he grows in his carving.
