Like most animal Katsinam, the Antelope (Chop) is a game animal whose purpose is to dance for others of his kind. This Katsina also aids in bringing rain, making the grass grow, and ensuring there is plentiful food for the future. This is a wonderful piece that is created in a style that is unusual today. Very few of the artists make the Native American dolls this way. The action is wonderful and the carving, painting and details are very accurate.
