Native American Navajo Handbuilt Vase with Low Handles
Native American Navajo Handbuilt Vase with Low Handles by Andrea Williams
This tall vase with low handles was handbuilt by Navajo Master Potter Andrea Williams. Andrea learned from her mother, Sue Williams, and her grandmother, Rose Williams. Andrea digs her own clay, mixes it with volcanic cinders, then handbuilds the pot. She fires her pottery in an open pit and finishes by polishing with a stone. As a final touch and to waterproof the pottery, Andrea dips the hot pot in hot pine pitch then wipes it dry. Beautiful and unusual Navajo handmade pottery. We are grateful to finally have traditional Navajo handbuilt pottery in our shop. This traditional pottery cannot hold liquid.
