Vintage Native American Navajo Made Squash Blossom Necklace
Description
1980s Native American Navajo Made Squash Blossom Necklace
This vintage squash blossom turquoise necklace dates to the 1980s, made by a Navajo silversmith whose name wasn't recorded, a common practice of the era rather than a mark against the piece. The naja, the crescent pendant at the center, stands 3.5 inches tall. Natural Kingman turquoise sits at its center, sourced from one of the most recognized turquoise mines in the Southwest.
The necklace itself is built from traditional sterling silver bench beads, hand-formed and strung in the classic squash blossom pattern that dates back to 19th-century Navajo silversmithing. A hook and eye closure finishes the piece, true to the period.
Being unsigned doesn't diminish the piece. Many Navajo silversmiths working through the 1980s didn't sign their work; attribution wasn't yet standard practice industry-wide. What you're getting is a genuine period piece, not a modern reproduction styled to look vintage.
