Native American Navajo Red Clay Pot with Hummingbird
Description
Native American Navajo Red Clay Pot with Hummingbird by HIlda Whitegoat
This pot is beautifully etched with traditional Navajo patterns, painted with the colors of the southwest and accented with a hummingbird as a focal point. The hummingbird represents beauty and summer, as well as the ability to stop time. The shape of this pot indicates that it would have been used as a "smoke pot" or one in which the individual would place dried herbs and light the herbs in order to have them smolder and "smoke" or smudge to cleanse the area and the people of evil spirits.
