This pot is a classic shape and a great example of Navajo red clay etched pottery. The deep etching with classic Navajo symbols. The focal point is the etched and painted buffalo flanked by two warriors on horseback. The buffalo represents good medicine, the fulfillment of powers and steadfast endurance. The buffalo was the mainstay of the Plains Indians and was used for food as well as shelter, clothing and weapons.
