Native American Hopi Handbuilt and Handcarved Seed Pot with Eagle and Sunface

Description

Native American Hopi Handbuilt and Handcarved Seed Pot with Eagle and Sunface by Delmar Polacca

This larger handbuilt seed pot with a handcarved eagle and Sunfacewas created by Hopi potter Delmar Polacca. Eagle is the messenger between the people and their spirit guides. Sunface represents the spirit of the sun. This leader of ceremonies brings warmth, shelter for the old, a bright future, and playfulness for the young. The Sun is thought to be the brightest and largest of all the stars and essential to life and growth. This style of pot is a seed pot. These pots would be placed in the corner of their home, stacked so the bottom of one pot would seal the top of the other. This storage technique would save space and keep the rodents from ruining next years' seed crop.
