Native American Jemez Made Corn Maiden Storyteller with Pueblo

Description

Native American Jemez Made Corn Maiden Storyteller with Pueblo by Felicia Fragua

This spectacular large Corn Maiden Storyteller by Felicia Fragua is holding her two young corn maidens and watching over the Pueblo. The Corn Maiden is a prayer for corn. She also honors Mother Earth and her continuing ability to feed her children. This piece even has traditional cave paintings inside the Corn Maiden. The storyteller is an adaptation of centuries-old creations in figurine pottery. Cultural traditions and values have historically been passed on by tribal elders through songs an stories geared to teaching the young. It is in these delightful representations that the intense love of the Native American Indians for their children is most clearly shown. This is a large and wonderful piece by Felicia. In order to see the inside of the piece, I had to change the lighting in the photo. I hope it is not distracting, but I wanted you to see the beautiful painting inside and behind the pueblo.
