Native American Santa Clara Handbuilt and Handetched Pot by Eric Tafoya

This beautiful handbuilt and etched pot was created by Santa Clara potter Eric Tafoya. The black is from firing the red clay over and over again and polishing the piece between firings. It is the oxygen that is let in to the hot firing process that creates that blackened surface of the clay. The pot is then etched with designs of flowers and hummingbirds and accented with small turquoise stones. Classic Santa Clara pottery.
