Zuni Carved Moose Fetish by Maxx Laate

This older piece by Zuni artist Maxx Laate is even more wonderful than his later pieces because of the side that was left natural. This small cow (female moose) is curled up under the huge rack of a bull moose who is not completely carved. The sense of safety is obvious. This great piece was carved from antler, incorporating the crown of the antler for the rack on the moose.
