Native American Zuni Handbuilt and Handpainted Pot with Lizards by Deldrick Cellicion

This beautiful larger handbuilt pot with the fluted rim that has a dark band around it to accent the shape has two raised lizards on the outside of this piece. The shape of this piece indicates that it would have stored water. The lizards are protecting the water, and calling for the rain to bring more. The lizard symbolizes patience and wisdom. This reptile lives in a very harsh environment and knows where to find water and when to seek shade from the glaring desert sun. This is a great example of Zuni pottery.
