Native American Zuni Handbuilt and Handpainted Red Clay with White Slip Duck

Description

Native American Zuni Handbuilt and Handpainted Red Clay with White Slip Duck by Avelia and Anderson Peynetsa Jr.

This is a wonderful piece created by Anderson Peyneta Jr and his mother, Avelina. The red clay is coated with white slip and then painted Zuni symbols. The duck represents water and adaptability. The dragonfly represents purity, swiftness, transformation and healing. It is also a sign of summertime, beauty and rain. These particular duck effigies were first created by Anderson's father and the family keeps this particular style as their own.
