Old Style Hopi Carved Rainbow or Cloud Guard Traditional Rain Katsina Doll by the Katsinam

The Rainbow or Cloud Guard (Tangikchina) appears during the Shalako dance. Usually four appear and dance around the Shalakos waving willow branches in front of the Shalakos as they dance. This carving was a gift to a young girl at a Kachina dance by one of the Katsinam. These carvings are used as teaching tools for the girls. This is a really sweet piece and very pristinely done.
